The Birthday Gift for "MY" daughter which she asked "ME" which "I" wanted to buy is already here because I have a big mouth.

Mommy and baby woke up at 7 am after an uninterrupted sleep except once when Ashu got up and asked "Appa Illayaa?" and went back to sleep the next instant. And as soon as she got up, she told "Appa is in the bathroom". I told her "Appa is out of town". She thought it was a word game and said "Appa is in the bathroom". I said "Yes baby, but in a bathroom hotel in AMSTERDAM". She completely lost my sarcasm and said again "Appa is in the bathroom". I gave up and shut her up by giving her milk. Then the door bell rang. I hurriedly brushed my hair and opened the door to see the Postman standing with a big packet. I knew exactly what it was when I saw the package.

Remember
this post where in the last paragraph I told you guys about how Ashu was asking for a Thomas train for her upcoming birthday. Apparently I should nt have shared that piece of information with my crazy parents!!!!!! Yes, the package was from my parents from India with a heavy Thomas and his friends Big loader. Now what am I supposed to buy for her? I told you my parents were crazy!

And these ignorant folks could nt even get the address right for Gods sake. They asked my sister for my address and wrote it on the box even without writing "Switzerland" on it. My dad remembered after sending the courier and then asked me if that was OK. At that time I thought they were sending a card for Ashu, did nt know about the gift. I yelled at my dad for being so stupid. My address does nt even have Zurich in it so I was sure that the post will be lost. Then my dad had called the courier guys I suppose. Because on the package, I saw the word "SWIS", yes Swis, written with a different pen in small print somewhere near the return address!! And the return address looks larger than the TO address and the senders name and receivers name are the same as I still have my maiden name. There must have been one confused postman out there today! But still I got the package and Ashu got her gift. Their unconditional love has brought it all the way here I suppose. There were also a Kerala style frock and a skirt my mom has bought in Guruvayoor for Ashu.

Now what about the a luxury villa in Bangalore I have been hinting to buy for the sake of Ashu, Dad? How is it coming along?

Ah, once the grandkids come, the kids get forgotten, so forget the villa...such lovely grandparents. I have to literally warn both brat's grandmothers not to buy him anymore clothes or toys, we are already swamped thank you...
Many Happy Returns to dear Ashu...

That is one cute story .. sure Ashu will love to hear all about this when she is a bit older :-)

You know, my parents go nuts about A too and do stuff like this ... reading this instantly made me think of them!

Kowsalya - Im sure Ashu will do the same in the future. Still undecided on the party. Either we ll have a last minute party or Hd will take off and we ll go on a day trip. Still wondering...

Kiran - Tell me about it. I have been begging them not to buy clothes especially the traditional skirts as theres hardly an occasion here but they just keep coming!!

Latha - My dad conveniently forgets whatever I ask and annoyingly remembers whatever Ashu wants! He says its because grandpas have a special chip in their brains for their grand kids it seems! I say that the daughter chip gets replaced! ;)

Prabhu - Why vendha punnil Vel paaching? :(

SS - Grand parents are the best thing in the world for kids, are nt they? :)

Poppins - My mom reads the blog. My dad does if my mom moves away from the computer! ;)

boo, your parents read your blog but don't think you're besmirching the family's good name?

Whatever their shortcomings, grandparents rock! Personally, I don't think I'll ever be as loving as they are.

Aw, so sweet! At least they got her something she wanted!

My mom has been deeply disappointed by my lifelong aversion to gold. She still hasn't figured out how I - fully mallu on both sides of my family - can resist it. She's hoping to make that up with her half-mallu granddaughter and has gotten gold anklets for her first birthday!

:-( my poor comment feels neglected :-( is it 'coz I asked for cake? :-? how mean!

Priya - Sorry, sorry, sorry! I can explain... I mean, Im sorry? I ll send cake, chocolates and ice cream, ok?

Terri - Dads in denial and moms proud! ;) Yes, grandparents are the best!

Moppets Mom - The jewellery does nt stop! :)) My mom decks up Ashu whenever she gets the chance and I keep everything in the safe deposit locker. I dont know whats the point?

Happy Birthday Ashu!!!
Note to myself: Print out this post and put it up on refrigerator, so MIL can read this when she visits next. Considering she has not gifted Ananya ANYTHING for ANY occasion, she just might get the hint.

tell them thats what Ashu wants on her next B;day;-)

NO no..no MIL in the post. But grandparents yes. I thought my MIL might take her role of a grandparent more seriously-not just with the gifting part but other stuff too. But she could start with the gifts!!!On second thoughts it would be wasted on her.

Mommy of 2 - You know what would be better? Training Ashu to ask for a Villa!! ;) *evil laughter*

SM - Yeah, you are right! Who am I kidding? I would be wasting good money on postage. :(
