What a Match!

Boo and kids Venue: P's house.
Who was present? P, me and 3 more moms and kids. (Their respective husbands were all traveling.)
Menu: Dal, paneer, pajma, rice, rotis, puris, tiramisu, cake, muffins, tea,...

HD's Venue: D's house.
Who was present? The host and 3 more families.
Menu: Rice, stew, dal, salad, apple crumble,...

HD's second innings Venue: A pub.
Who was present - A friend and 100 more cricket fans!
Menu: Beer!

This information is so that everyone knows what we were doing and where we were when History was made! Though Im sad that Hd and I were nt together, it was better this way. Why, you ask? Because we both watched Ind Vs Eng in D's house and it was a tie. Hd watched Ind Vs SA there and we lost. Hd was in Amsterdam and I was home for the Ind Vs Aus and we won. Hd was in Geneva and I was home for the crucial Ind Vs Pak match and we won! So of course we had to get separated for the greater good! Im nothing if not logical! ;) So when Tendulkar got out and Hd called and said he was still in D's house, I yelled at him like I ve never yelled before and asked him to hit the pub asap as per our original plan! Im sure the man caught the train before I could change my mind! So now you know why we won! :) Good job, Team India! I am glad we lived to see this day and not carry the picture of Kapil Dev and his 1983 trophy to our graves!

So where were you?

Absolutely great match Boo.We along with 3 other families and 3 kids between 18 and 50 months watched the second innings and had plenty of popcorn, murukku and many cups of tea. The venue was my place and that does make the win extra special for me.YAaaaaay. Well Done Team India....

Actually we won because I didn't watch the match and listened to radio commentary instead.
(During the last world cup, as soon as I paid for the cricket channel subscription, India crashed & burned out of the tournament.)

Nobody can say I don't sacrifice things for my country! :)

lol... you did it! :)
Our friends were here like they did for every other match we won!
We sat in the same seats like before - except when we were jumping up and screaming in joy!!!
The fun.. the fun :D

We were in our house with a cousin, and couple of friends. We fulfilled our part of the bargain, by sitting in the same place, not taking bio-break.. I was in a generous mood and made Pongal/sambhar for breakfast for everyone. History was made thanks to the Pongal!!

The fiance and I were sitting at opposite ends of the living room. I wasn't allowed to move because every time I did, the fiance reasoned, a wicket fell or there was a close call. I was confined to my own ring of fire.

The men at home grabbed the bigger TV. Daughter, mum and I used the other one, alternating between the match and a Telugu dabbulu padam on KTV ("Kaadhal Sugam Aanadhu"). The movie was total abaddam. The match was of course the ticket to moksha praapti.

LOL.. In our house where we don't see sentiments for anything else (the pagutharivu people), we see and practice every bit of sentiment for the sake of cricket!!
It's such fun to read about others cricket sentiments here.

I read the FB status of a friend where she said we won b'cos Rajini was watching the match from the celebrity stands!! Haiyo haiyo.. idhukku mela sentiment pathi vera yedhavadhu sollanuma? :))

India played very, very well this time. Dhoni was awesommest!
I still remember I was like 10 or so when we won the last World Cup. Can't believe it took them so long to win one again. Used to worship the cricket stars back then.. My God then - the Great Kapil Dev (I never liked Gavaskar) and then the replay of the Audi car driven by Ravi Shastri. Wasn't it sponsored by Benson and Hedges or something?

Got a bit angry and tired after cleaning (and of course the "second day" syndrome) and pretended to sleep when hd and Sam were glued to the box. I really didn't have to watch the match as the whole apartment (and the neighboring one) erupted for every ball!!!). People were bursting crackers and the kids painted their face tri-color and marched about shouting India...India...:)

Switched off the television after the loss of second wicket in India innings and went to sleep. Woke up to noise of fire crackers.

Hmmmm.....and my brother beilives that India won because he was banished from entering his house by my sis-in-law. Of course, I think we won coz I stuck to my seat and didnt budge an inch, no bio-breaks, no proper dinner for the kids (they had to help themselves, no serving or pesanji-fying was involved)and because I wore the same salwar I wore when we won against the Paks.
Funny how we all think that we had something to do with the win.

Absolutely wonderful moment. Kapil Dev really got tired of holding the cup for so long!

I wore my logical hat as well ... and woke up BP at exactly the same time (1:58am) and asked him for cup of tea at exactly the same time did in the past matches we had won.
and me ... well, I wore the same clothes ... and said my prayers fervently after every over initially and every ball towards the end.
Its collective effort like ours that has ensured we won ... no???

We were in a train for the last hour or so of the match, and also watched it at the station along with hundreds of others before we boarded. Although we weren't actually 'watching', technology made sure we knew what was going on, and the entire train load of people kept cheering and whooping as the game reached its splendid culmination.

I guess I would be the odd person out in the comment space here! I was that horrible boring wife who never watched a cricket match with the hubi who was looking for company and tried various ways to educate me on cricket ... My earlier defence of girls get bored with these doesnt work these days, (as its proven right here in this space!!!) ... Given that tendulkar and sehwag went out quickly, prax felt doomed and was screaming at all of us and switched off the TV and we went out for a walk and came back ... Gautam Gambhir was still holding hopes high ... I actually watched the match until the end after that ... with firecrackers making merry for every boundary and sixer ... I always greatly admired dhoni - especially with his "khaili act" for pepsi and was happy he was THE hero ... 'see I always knew maturity and patience matters in leadership' I even commented - but in the end I fell in love with Sankarakara - his words swept my feet away ... Dhoni talked like a CEO ... Sankarakara just grabbed my soul just by his words - what a man ... Yes I am the odd person out here ... But hey I am happy to witness a huge cultural event in India!!! :) Cricket craziness is our culture isnt it?

Bathing is an enjoyable time between you and your baby. Your new born baby during the first six weeks does not necessarily need a full bath every day. A soft wash cloth or cotton wool and some warm water will do to clean him up.Baby bathing is fun
