I am doing OK. OK?

To whomsoever it may concern.

Please stop asking me how I spend the two LONG hours when Ashu is at school and I have nowhere to go. I park the car at school, walk to this little place near by and read a book with my ipod on. That's what I do and I quite enjoy it. Its the only time I get for myself and I'm with what I like the most - books and music. 2 hours just fly by and before I can finish the short story or my favorite song ends, its time to go pick up Ashu. And some days, Hd drops her while I go to pick her up. Once in 2 weeks, theres a mommies lunch thing and its fun to talk to moms from different countries and get to know them.

I like it that its bitterly cold outside and I'm sitting inside a heated room with a book. I was reading Love and Longing in Mumbai by Vikram Chandra and though I have nt understood one story so far, I love reading it. I would have given up on the book if not for this "me" time. I also realized that Karthik has sung the Nenthukitten song from Star amazingly well and Im in love with his voice. Once this song ends, I stop my ipod for a minute and hear Karthiks voice still lingering in my ears! Ah!

And friends have been "Oh! Poor you!" ing me when I tell them what I do and I hate it. Save the "poor you" when Im in my death bed , will you? I mean what more can I ask for? If the school was nearer and I came home after dropping her, I would be washing dishes, for Gods sake! How is that any better? And its still uncertain how long our stay in Swiss will be. So got to take one day at a time and cant think of moving nearer to the school for now. (A "poor you" now is welcome! I hate these uncertainties!)

I don't take the car and paint the town red because I am saving that for later after I get my Swiss driving license and get a little more confident. I am not going for long walks (for God knows I need the exercise) because its freezing out here. I have plans to do some volunteer work at school but only from the next term. Any other questions?

Actually, that sounds like awesome fun!I would looooove to do that everyday too.

BTW- high five on lurrrrrrrrrrrrrrving karthik's voice! I did not know that he had sung "Nenthukiten"- really? I thought he was a recent find...

ok- I just googled the song and realized that you were talking about karthik raja :).I meant Karhtik of "oru malai"-Ghajini fame.(oliyile from Azhagi, oru ooril- Kakka kakka etc)

I think it is the same Karthik and not Karthik Raja who rendered the song.

How dare you? I just returned Life Of Pi to the library after reading only three chapters of it, inspite of having it for 9 long weeks and paying a $6.00 fine on it, breaking my record that I have never returned a library book having without having finished it, inspire of falling in love with the book.....I wasn't able to read it. Booo hooo. And you write about your sitting-in-heated-room-reading-a-book-with-an-ipod-in-your-ears. Huh. I am so jealous. No fair.

p.s: know what's better than books with music? books with music and coffee! ah, the pure joy of it!

Sounds blissful. 2 hours all by yourself in a nice cozy car with a book! Oh heaven.

I drive to and fro between preschool. 20 min to, 20 min back, then again in the afternoon. I get an hour and a half at home, during which I nurse the little one, clean up the house, do the dishes or some other housework. Then nurse her again so she's asleep in the car, strap her in and off again to collect the preschooler. Boring, I tell you.

How cold does it get in Switzerland?

You seem to be having a great 'Me' time :)

Yes - Why havent you understood any of the stories by Vikram Chandra? :D

Who's 'poor you' ing you?

Sounds like fun to me. The only way I get to read is by ignoring husband, baby and household. Tough job, that.

Shobana said...

Nope. No more questions about how you spend those couple of hours but it does sound like being in heaven.

And the same goes for me as Sue said...to read a book, I must tune out the hubby and baby.

Daisy - NO!! It is indeed Karthik who has sung Nenthukitten! I think his first song was for Azhagi, not sure though!

anon - Definitely not Karthik Raja!

Utbt - You gave back Life of Pi without finishing? Whats your baby sitter doing? hire her and finish the book! :)

Priya - I dont drink coffee. But as Kodis mom has helfully suggested(!), a mug of hot chocolate would be nice! ;)

Noodlehead - Is he in Zurich? Are you going to make a visit too? :) Do mail me if you are.

Mummyjan - Not in the car. It has nt come to that yet! ;) Thankfully, theres a cosy little Patisserie nearby and a waiting area for the Train station and thats where you ll find me. It does nt snow very much but the wind chill is killing!

COS - For now, yes!

Shyam - I sense theres a deeper meaning to the three stories I ve completed so far and it just flew over my head. I could nt get a thing.

Sue - Friends(!) here. Oh yeah, I do that too if the book is unputdownable.

Shobana - Not heaven. But close! ;)

Kodis mom - hee hee! Hot chocolate would be nice! ;)

The 2 hour "Me" time with books and music inside a cozy shop sounds divine to me!You go boo!

Nendhukitten is Karthik's first song. He initially sang the track for that song. Rahman heard it and was very impressed with the track that he let him sing the original as well! :-)
